  • Kiran J. Agarwal-Harding, MD, MPH, is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, and director of the Harvard Global Orthopaedics Collaborative. He founded and directs SONA Global, a nonprofit developing affordable medical innovations and free education to improve essential trauma care for the poor and vulnerable.
  • Kiran is dedicated to advancing musculoskeletal health equity, splitting his time between Boston and overseas. In Boston, Kiran cares for patients at a Level 1 trauma center, trains orthopaedic residents, and leads a variety of global health research, education, policy, and innovation projects. Overseas, Kiran manages productive academic partnerships in Malawi, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Rwanda, and Sri Lanka, where he engages in research, clinical training, mentorship, and advocacy. Kiran founded SONA Global to address the need he has witnessed for affordable resources and high-quality training in resource-limited settings around the world.
  • Kiran received a B.S. in Biomechanical Engineering at Stanford University, his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, and his M.P.H. from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed an orthopaedic residency at Harvard, and hand/upper extremity surgery training at Columbia University. His work with SONA Global exemplifies his belief that innovative, scalable solutions can bridge the gap in healthcare access and improve the quality of life for millions globally.
